The Mpophomeni Tourism Centre Upgrade project aims to enhance tourism infrastructure in the Mpophomeni area, located in the uMgungundlovu District, by modernizing tourist facilities, and enriching the overall visitor experience. Funded by the Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) with a budget of R1,000,000, the project is in the planning and design phase. The upgrade is expected to create 30 jobs during construction and operation, while stimulating local businesses through increased tourist traffic. The project will also promote the region’s cultural and historical heritage, fostering cultural tourism. By improving infrastructure, the project will enhance the visitor experience, encourage repeat visits, and support sustainable tourism practices. Additionally, local community engagement will be prioritized, contributing to skills development and strengthening public-private tourism partnerships. The Mpophomeni Tourism Centre Upgrade will boost tourism, create jobs, promote local businesses, and preserve cultural heritage, while contributing to the long-term growth of the regional economy.
